Let's talk Cake Smash sessions and managing our expectations around them. 

We always start out with portrait photos, before we bring out the cake. Capturing your baby as they turn one year old is one of my favourite things to do!

INEVITIABLY, your baby will cry at some point during their session. They almost always do. 

If you think about it, it's so brand new to them! Having to perform in front of a stranger. Touching food they likely have never touched before. Getting dirty! Flashing lights! It's all so much for their teeny little brain to process.

Please, don't put too much pressure on yourself, your baby or me for the PERFECT pictures. I just know, they'll still be perfect. Whether they smile the whole time or not. This is who your baby is right now, in this moment. I promise,  you'll look back and laugh at the photos one day!

Also, we need to know when to call it quits. If your baby just isn't feeling me at all, we can try again another day, if need be! 

Just enjoy the moment and don't put too much pressure on it. It'll be awesome and a memory either way!
